Frozen Wax Beans

part of: Wax Bean

Frozen wax beans — the pale yellow cousin of green beans — have a mild, slightly buttery flavour and a tender-crisp texture when cooked. They’re interchangeable with green beans in most recipes and add a splash of colour to mixed vegetable dishes.

They’re excellent steamed or sautéed as a side, tossed into casseroles, or added to soups and stews. Their delicate flavour pairs well with butter, garlic, almonds, and lemon.

How it's made

Wax beans are harvested, washed, trimmed, and sorted. They may be left whole or cut into pieces, then blanched briefly and blast-frozen to preserve their colour and snap.
