Privacy Policy
Last Updated:
Your privacy is fundamental to the Cubud mission. This policy explains how we handle data across the Cubud mobile app, Alexa skill, and website.
1. Data Sovereignty
We believe your data belongs to you. Cubud is designed to be a tool for your household, not an extraction engine for third parties. We do not sell, rent, or monetize your personal information or kitchen inventory data.
2. Information We Collect
- Account Information: We use a trusted third-party service for secure login. When you sign up, we receive basic profile information (like your email address) to create your account and associate it with your household.
- Kitchen Data: We store the items and locations you add to your kitchen so that they stay in sync across your devices.
- Voice Data (Alexa): When you use Cubud through Alexa, Amazon processes your voice and sends the text to our servers. We do not store the original audio.
- Waitlist Email: While Cubud is in soft launch, you can leave an email address on the closed door to hear when it opens. We store that address, the time you left it, and the network address it came from — the latter kept only so we can weed abuse out of the list before anyone is emailed. The address is used for one note when the door opens, and nothing else.
3. Third-Party Services
We use a limited number of trusted service providers to run Cubud:
- Cloud infrastructure: Your data is stored securely on industry-standard cloud servers.
- Authentication: A trusted identity service manages your login securely.
- Web delivery: Our website is served and protected through a global content network.
4. Your Rights
You have the right to access, update, export, and delete your data. Here is exactly how each of those works today:
- Access and update: everything you've put into Cubud — items, spots, lists, preferences — is visible and editable from the app, this site, and Alexa, whenever you like.
- Export: your account page has an "Export my data" button that downloads everything we hold for your household as a single JSON file. If your request reaches a server that doesn't have the export endpoint yet, the button says so plainly rather than pretending — it's rolling out now.
- Deletion: deletion is by request for now. Ask through our support page and we'll delete your account data and confirm when it's done. A self-serve delete button is planned, but we won't claim it here before it exists.
- Waitlist removal: if you left an email on the waitlist and change your mind, ask through our support page and we'll delete it and confirm — you don't need an account for that.
